Examines the treatment of black characters throughout the history of American cinema, using examples from classic films beginning with footage by Thomas Edison in 1903 to the present, tracing how Hollywood has aided and abetted the public perception of the African-American. Goldbergs
The Goldbergs, a domestic comedy-drama series about a struggling Jewish family in New York City, aired from 1949-1956, after almost twenty years on radio. Striking a gentle balance between old world values and assimilation into the American melting pot, The Goldbergs is a show about the importance of neighborhood and family. Writer/actress Gertrude Berg plays the matriarch of the extended family with charm, warmth and wit. Her signature "Yoo-Hoo, Mrs. Bloom" at the beginning of each episode became a national catch phrase.

Produced by Ball & Arnaz' company Desilu, the duo (along with co-creator Jess Oppenheimer) decided to shoot the show in Hollywood, on 35 mm film in front of a live studio audience, with three cameras to capture the action.
